Lake of the Woods Brewing Company
(LOWBrewCo) had its genesis during
a conversation over a beer in 2010.
Taras Manzie, a self-professed serial entre-preneur,
asked his wife, “So, what’s next?”
The couple owned an inn in Kenora,
Ont., and Manzie felt the itch to create
something new. “I’ve been hearing a lot
about craft breweries. We should look into
it,” Audrey Manzie said. Taras listened to
his wife.
The couple learned that the City of
Kenora issued a request for proposal for
business ideas to give a 105-year-old,
decommissioned fire hall a second life.
They pitched using the space as a brewery
and a pub. Much to their surprise, they
were successful.
