Why was it important
to you to help in
the fight against
COVID-19?
I guess I haven’t really thought about that before.
When things started getting crazy out there and
shortages started, it just seemed like the right
thing to do. We were contacted by many groups
including can-ask.ca and VGH (Vancouver Gen-eral
Hospital) COVID-19 response units who were
unable to get the supplies they needed, so we started
producing more. We, however, don’t have the ideal
equipment for producing large volumes of high alco-hol
quickly, so we came up with the idea of wipes to
stretch the supply. After we started doing that, we
quickly realized that not only was it an efficient use
of sanitizing alcohol, but it was a convenient way to
always have some on you when you go out, and for
high addiction and abuse communities, it provided
a safer option. We have since gotten many packs to
groups on the DTES (Downtown East Side) and in
shelters, so that feels pretty good.
