• There were 1,123 licensed breweries operating in
Canada at the end of 2019, an increase of 13 per cent
from 2018.
• There are 3.7 breweries per every 100,000 legal

Beer has a substantial impact on Canada’s economy. Figures
from the Conference Board of Canada show beer supports 149,000
Canadian jobs, with a labour income of $5.3 billion while contrib-uting
$13.6 billion to Canada’s GDP. This impact is due in large part
to the domestic nature of Canada’s beer industry. In 2019, 84 per
cent of the beer consumed in Canada was made here.
