Alley Kat
Brewing Company
The new owners of one of Alberta’s most successful breweries say they jumped
at the chance to purchase the operation, and despite sealing the deal just
before COVID-19 struck, the business is going strong

Cameron French and Zane Christensen, two business
partners who purchased one of Alberta’s best-known craft
beer brands in early 2020, go back a fair bit.
The new owners of Alley Kat Brewing Company in Edmonton,
Alta., went through school together in St. Albert, Alta. They
attended the University of Alberta together, where they both
majored in accounting and graduated with business degrees. They
even received their CPA training together at the Edmonton office
of KPMG Canada, one of the country’s leading accountancy firms.
“From there, we went our separate ways into different industry
jobs, but we stayed in touch,” said French. “We’d meet up for lunch
or coffee once or twice a month just to discuss different business
ideas and opportunities, and about a year and a half ago, this
opportunity came along.”
