PRODUCTION
are ideal for small batch filtration. Some
may even choose to start with a plate and
frame and then finish off with a smaller
housing for fine filtration.
Filling options
Next, what method of filling should a dis-tillery
use?
Gravity Fillers are ideal for start-ups or
small batch producers who prefer to fill by
gravity. Available options include a 2-valve,
4-valve, 6-valve, floor or tabletop model.
For larger operations, the Enolmaster®
pneumatic vacuum bottle filler is a top
suggestion. This explosion-proof filler can
fill practically any kind of glass bottle and,
with its vacuum filling system, products are
bottled in the gentlest way. This will allow
the spirit to maintain its original quality
and character. With a capacity of 380 litres
per hour, this pneumatic filler can also
be purchased with a mignon kit that will
accommodate smaller sized bottles.
AO Wilson also carries many accessso-ries
and spare parts for all filling solutions.
Packaging
The spirits have been filtered and filled into
bottles, labels have been ordered, now it’s
time to apply the label. AO Wilson has a
variety of labelers to choose from: manual
to semi-automatic, regular and even small
size bottles.
All alcoholic beverages sold in Canada,
regardless of their distribution channel,
will be required to include a lot code iden-tifier
on their packages. Lot codes must
be clearly and prominently shown on the
selling unit, and must be readily discern-ible
and legible to the customer. A lot code
can be numeric, alphabetic or alphanu-meric.
A specially designed Inkjet printer
for porous and non-porous materials is
another piece of equipment a distillery will
need to invest in. AO Wilson also stocks
date code printers.
Closure possibilities
When it comes to closures, the possibili-ties
are endless. Some common options are
listed below.
Tee Top Stoppers are available in the
most common sizes to accommodate dif-ferent
bottle styles and in a variety of fin-ishes,
from glass to plastic and monobloc
to natural and walnut wood, among others.
Tee Top Stoppers are also fully customizable.
A capsule may be required to be
applied on top of the tee top stopper to
provide tamper evidence. Capsules are also
fully customizable. A heat shrinker may be
required for this option, which AO Wilson
has available in several styles.
Twist Off Wax is yet another option to
set a bottle apart from the others. A distill-ery
can apply the twist off wax directly on
top of the tee cork. This option is practical
and beautiful, allowing the end customer
to open the bottle in one twist. This is avail-able
in a variety of colours. Producers may
require a wax melting pot for this option.
Screw Caps are available in short
and long, with a wide variety of colours
from stock. Screw Caps are fully custom-izable,
if the production timeline allows.
Producers may require a semi-automatic
capping machine for this option, avail-able
from stock.
Whether a micro-distillery or an
established distillery, AO Wilson can
help every step of the way. Check out
